Crimp Hold is an excitant of the space, protruding out from the rock formations that characterize Lagos’s coastline. The materiality acts to blend into the warm-toned cliff face, with its rectilinear shape in stark contrast to the natural geology. The pavilion presents an opportunity for pedestrians to make the space their own with pop-up shops, spas, and gatherings amongst near-infinite possibilities. These activities take place within the programmatic spaces between the stones in the pavilion, adding a sense of separation within the open timber frame. Crimp Hold is a flexible space that people can make their own, low or high tide, while still receiving astounding views of the Atlantic.
The geology of the site encapsulates the architecture, merging them into one. The landscape and individual rocks create pockets of space for adaptive uses for the community.
